Terms and Conditions for Keki’s Guinea Pig Rescue
Effective Date: October 2026
These terms explain how you may use our website www.kekisguineapigrescue.com and what you can expect when you buy from our shop, adopt, rehome, sponsor or donate. Please read them before you order or get in touch. By using the site or placing an order, you agree to them.
Who we are
We are Keki’s Guinea Pig Rescue CIC, a non-profit community interest company (CIC 16165553) based in Basingstoke, Hampshire. Our address is Keki’s Guinea Pig & Rabbit Rescue, Blackdam, Basingstoke, Hampshire, RG21 3EQ. Visits are by appointment only.
Using our website
We do our best to keep the site accurate and up to date, but the animals available, prices and opening times change often, so please check with us before you travel or rely on them. Animals shown on the site are not reserved for you until we have confirmed it with you.
Please use the site lawfully and fairly. Do not try to break into it, overload it or interfere with how it works. The photos, words and designs on the site belong to us or to the people who gave them to us, so please ask before you copy them. We are not responsible for other websites we link to.
Buying from our shop
- Prices All prices are in pounds sterling. The price of each item is shown on its page. Postage is added at checkout, and your total is shown before you pay.
- Stock Our stock is limited. If something sells out while you are paying, we refund your payment automatically.
- Your order When you place your order we send a receipt and order details to the email address you gave us. Please check them and tell us straight away if anything is wrong. All the money raised by the shop goes towards the care of the animals in our rescue.
Paying by card
We take card payments in the shop through Stripe, and you pay when you place your order. We never see or store your card details: they go straight to Stripe. How we use the other details you give us is explained in our Privacy Policy.
Delivery and collection
- Postage We post by Royal Mail. At checkout you choose a service, and its price and usual delivery time are shown next to it. These times are Royal Mail’s estimates, and unless a service says it is guaranteed we cannot promise them.
- Free postage We may offer free postage on orders over a certain amount. If we do, it is included in your order and the offer is made clear at the time you order. If we are not offering it, we reserve the right not to offer free postage. Free postage covers our cheapest Royal Mail service only: any other service is charged at its normal price, shown at checkout.
- Collection You can collect your order from the rescue in Basingstoke, by appointment, at no charge. Please do not turn up without arranging a time with us first.
- Delivery address We post to addresses in the United Kingdom. Please check the address you give us is right, as we cannot be responsible for an order sent to a wrong address you entered.
Cancelling, returns and refunds
Your legal rights as a consumer are not affected by anything in these terms. Our Delivery and Returns Policy sets out how cancelling, returns and refunds work for shop orders. In particular:
- You have the right to cancel most online orders within 14 days of receiving them, and then to return the goods. Please email us to tell us you want to cancel, and we will tell you how to send the goods back.
- If something arrives faulty, damaged or not as described, please email us as soon as you can with your order details and, if you can, a photo. You are entitled to a repair, replacement or refund, as the law provides.
- We refund to the card you paid with.
Adoption
Adoption is arranged with our team and is not bought through the shop. The fees, deposits and steps are set out on our adoption page, and a member of our team will go through them with you.
- We will only rehome an animal once we are happy that the home is suitable. We may decline an adoption if we think it is not in the animal’s best interests.
- A home visit is part of the process. There is a one-off, non-refundable fee of £10 for the home visit.
- Once the home check is complete, a reservation fee secures your adoption (£15 per guinea pig, £25 per rabbit, £10 per other small animal), and it is deducted from the final adoption fee. The animal can come home once the final fee is paid.
- We offer advice and guidance for the lifetime of your pet.
Rehoming an animal with us
If you need to rehome a guinea pig, rabbit or other small animal, please use our rehoming form. We will review your enquiry and let you know whether we are able to help, which depends on how many animals we can take in. There is no fixed fee for rehoming, although a donation towards their care is always appreciated.
Boarding and our other services
Boarding is booked through our booking form, which has its own terms and conditions covering deposits, cancellation, health checks and liability. You agree to those when you book. Prices for boarding, bonding, grooming and microchipping are on their own pages.
Donations and sponsorship
Donations are given freely and go towards the care of the animals in our rescue: food, bedding, veterinary treatment and the rest of our work.
Sponsoring a sanctuary animal (currently £5 a month for a guinea pig and £7 a month for a rabbit) helps pay for that animal’s care, and you receive what the sponsorship page describes. It does not give you ownership of the animal, which stays in our care.
Our responsibility to you
We do not exclude or limit our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to exclude. Otherwise, we are responsible only for losses that are a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms, and we are not responsible for any loss to a business, or for losses that could not have been foreseen.
We do our best to keep the website running, but we cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors. Bookings for boarding have their own wording on responsibility, in the boarding terms on the booking form.
Privacy and cookies
How we look after your information is explained in our Privacy Policy, and how the site uses cookies in our Cookie Policy.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms from time to time. The terms in force when you place an order are the ones that apply to it. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last updated.
Governing law
These terms, and any dispute connected with them, are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring a claim in the courts of the country where you live.
